I love to cook.  More than that, as my husband often says of himself, I love to eat.  I love everything about the process… the aroma of savory and sweet, the sight of colors and textures, the taste of sugar and spice, the fellowship of breaking bread together.

“Playtime in the Pantry” was once a separate blog. Back in those early days, I joined Pinterest at the recommendation of family and friends.
I enjoyed looking at the posts but knew little about the innerworkings of the site.  Imagine my shock after a few days when I received an E-Mail from Pinterest informing me that I had followers.  Followers?!?  My Pinterest page was the road to nowhere… I hadn’t pinned anything!  I spent that evening pinning content to the void. I soon learned that I couldn’t post my own original content without having some sort of web page.

My original blog, “Putting a Few Words Together,” just didn’t seem the right place to post recipes and helpful hints.  That blog was reserved for my dream of being an honest-to-goodness published writer someday. And so I spent the next several weeks combing Pinterest for D-I-Y ideas and new recipes, pinning the good of the land to my page and finding a new love for my crockpot and blender along the way.

But there was still a void… my dream of being an honest-to-goodness writer couldn’t be sequestered from who I really am. That includes a love for taking ingredients and turning them into something wonderful.  Plain… I’m no chef, I’m a home cook.  But my husband has been coming back to the table for over 30 years and the dog insists he should share a taste, so I must be doing something right.  Could, somehow, my dream to write and my love to cook converge?

Today, I have taken yet another step in exactly that direction.

Welcome to my pantry! Let’s play!

A snapshot of my pantry.
I really do have more than two shelves… these are just the two most presentable in time for a blog debut.
